Parents really are the most influential factor in a child and young person’s life and all children test the limits and get angry. It’s not always easy for parents; kids don’t come with an instruction manual!
Parenting programmes are proven to be effective at helping all parents to increase positive relationships, promote children’s development and manage behaviour in constructive caring ways.
The Suite of Parenting Programmes
What makes Walsall's Parenting offer unique is that we recognise that one size does not fit all – different programmes will meet different parent’s needs. Because we recognise this fact, we have adopted several different evidence based programmes.
We have a number of programmes to meet parents needs depending on whether their families needs are Universal or Targeted/ Specialist.
Universal Parenting is designed for any parent living in Walsall who wants advice around parenting, relationships with their children and children's emotional and social development. These are parents that feel they are doing ok in there parenting role but require a little bit of additional support or information about being a parent. Targeted/ Specialist Parenting are more intensive programmes for parents/carers currently recieving support from Children's Services, such as parents with a Social Worker or Lead Professional.
