Walsall FIS offers up-to-date information,
advice and help on services for families in Walsall.
A special day for babies, families and early year organisations at Bilston Craft Gallery.
(* Admission and many activities are free, though some will be charged-for.)
Bilston Craft Gallery would like to invite you and any parents, childminders or carers you know to their first Craftplay BabyFest. They are welcoming parents to enjoy the calm bustle of a building packed with rich activities, while professionals will be able to meet colleagues and build networks.
In recent months many long-term contacts have flourished in partnerships and potential projects, and they want to celebrate all of the expertise, sensitivity and energy of organisations and individuals in and around Bilston who are determined to improve the lives of parents, carers and babies.
Activities include Craftplay taster sessions, sensory play environments with our friends at SCARF, baby yoga, baby massage, possibly baby dance and more exciting plans in the pipeline. There will be information on local services from Bilston & Bradley Children’s Centre and the inspirational mentors from Talent Match. If you want a photo opportunity, the Mayor and Mayoress will be here at 1pm, plus we’ll have a roving specialist baby photographer. They hope to have a small number of stalls selling high quality toys and beautiful slings. The new family friendly Craft Café will complete the visit.
An emphasis is placed on creative and sensory activities, rather than tables of leaflets, and they are already full.
Craftplay is the permanent under 5s creative play within Bilston Craft Gallery, running Reggio-inspired sessions for families, nurseries, schools and childminders, and professional development for early years specialists.
If you, or people you work with, face particular barriers in attending, please get in touch, and we’ll do our best to make them welcome.
Bilston Craft Gallery is well connected by bus and Metro, with lots of free parking nearby.
You may already be a regular visitor to Bilston Art Gallery but if you’ve never been before then why not pop along?
Jack is very keen to support a group of childminders to apply for an Arts Council Grant you cannot apply as an individual but if you are interested in joining with others to develop a bid please let us know we would be more than happy to support you.
